From Randy Duerr - Where did the name Middle Monkey come from? I was looking for something loosely based in Eastern Spiritual Philosohy. There was this character, "Monkey Monkey", that used to play tricks on the gods, but that didn't quite sound right, plus I didn't want to get us confused with The Monkees. So I thought about the "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil' monkeys, and thought the "hear no evil" guy, the Middle Monkey seemed to fit the bill.

Recorded by Brett Holihan at Startracker Studio in Lincoln, NE. It was only available on a cassette, but wasn't everything? I mean getting an album pressed was a commitment. After blowing the wad on on the recording and cassettes who could afford it. I suppose a band that sold some albums that's who. Ok, so we were't uber-popluar but we did have our day in the sun. Can you say Big Red Rock o Rama? We were a band from say 1989 to Dec 1993.

This was our second tape. Oh the 90's were full of tapes. We recorded this live to 2 track and that was pretty satisfying. We recorded some of the songs from the first tape over because the lineup had changed and wanted to have recordings with Don playing. This was right before I moved to Minneapolis. Where MM died slowly. Alan never made it to the twin cities and the bass player that joined us never really got what we were doing. I think his name was Dave Buckley. Although things didn't work out for the band I want to extend thanks to Dave for his moving to Minneapolis. It was a big leap of faith. Only to have it not work out so for that I am sorry.
